We finished a couple of more projects this week. We finally, after several months, installed the shoe moulding around all of the baseboards. Installing and cutting the moulding can be somewhat a pain, but what was a real pain in the butt was doing the caulk work afterwords. We also installed a new kitchen sink yesterday.
Sean has lived several cats over the years and normally, like most animals, they are have not been too fond of loud noises. Not our cat. We have had to run a compound miter saw and a vacuum several times over the last few months and our cat is not too afraid of the noise.
This is a picture of how our cat normally looks once we start working on a project.
He is not dead, he is just sleeping. Go figure.
I received a Lowe's gift card from Dad for my birthday (Thank you Dad). Our kitchen came with a stainless steel double bowl sink and I have always wanted a deeper single bowl sink. Marlene bakes a lot and it would make easier to clean up some of the larger items. The sink was not high on the priority list because it actually works, but since I got the gift card and they supposed to be spent on things you would not normally get, we decided to get a new sink from Lowes.
This is a picture of our old sink.
It was a fairly easy project. It took us less than an hour of actual working time. The hardest part was getting the PVC piping finished under the sink.

Sean had to take a trip to Chicago for work so we decided to turn it into a long weekend. We booked a package deal through Travelocity. This is a picture from the outside the Holiday Inn Express aka Hotel Cass at the corner of Ontario and N Wabash.
We finally got around to getting the crown moulding up on the ceilings. We went with a smaller moulding in the hallway and dining room because it had to tie into the existing stuff in the kitchen. We also painted the door trims in the hallway white. The hallway looks amazing when you compare it to this picture from when we first bought the house.
We used a larger moulding in the living room. The wall color is the same. It just looks different depending on the light. At night it becomes a nice olivish green. During the day it has the sand color.
