Thanksgiving

We went up to some of my relatives house in Winston Salem for Thanksgiving. My Uncle Luther picked up my Grandma from Roanoke and drove her down for the weekend. This let Marlene meet two more family members (Brian and Clara). She seemed to get along great with the family and we both had a wonderful time. Thank you very much Luther and Jenny.

I was going to post something earlier but my webhosting company Ipowerweb decided that Thursday was the day to move my website to a new server. I have spent most of Sunday trying to get things up and running again the way there were last Monday. I find it extremely unprofessional that they would move a website without previously informing someone of the move. I will be leaving them shortly for another webhost.

Lastly, I just saw a post from Jason Jclark.org saying he did not have dial up with Comcast. You should switch to Earthlink. They have free roaming dialup with all of their broadband connections. Marlene's sister is using it in Vancouver right now.

Lunar Eclipse in Roanoke

Marlene and I headed up to Roanoke, VA this weekend to visit my Grandma. Grandma is 90 years old this year. Her stories from times past are quite interesting. I also got the chance to play with my new camera. I would not have been able to take the below picture with my previous cameras. It's a little grainey because it cropped out from the original picture, but it is still quite a shot. I was very happy with the camera and the visit. Pictures of the weekend can be found here

On another note. A good friend of mine, who is reading this blog, will be having surgery tomorrow. Both Marlene and I wish him a quick and speedy recovery. On a personal note -- Man if you don't make it, I would like the Powerbook. I have a door that keeps trying to close and I could use the doorstop. Take care dude.

Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel

I have wanted to ugrade to another camera since my birthday. The household previously held an Olympus C-40 and C-2100 UZ. They both went to the auction block at Ebay. The funds from those two cameras, and some patience from Marlene, helped make the new Canon possible.

I picked the camera up today and hopefully it will grow with me over the years. So far the shots look promising. The Digital Rebel is a true 6.3 Megapixal SLR camera. The kit I bought came with the 18-55MM lens which is pretty good range for starting into more professional shooting. Over the years I am sure that I will acquire a nice 70-200MM zoom and some sort of wide-angle. For now, I will just be trying to figure out how this things works
