It seems everyone in the blogging world has been busy this last month. I have noticed a definate decline in posting and I am included in that decline.
Last month I posted that my company had bought another company here in Charlotte. I have been working non-stop in the office since March 15th. The merger has not gone well. We have found that most of the owner operators from Star Freight don't seem to want to actually work. We had expected to get 40 drivers from the buyout and so far have ended up with about 12. That number changes daily. I have been working 12-15 hour days since we combined the companies on March 29th. Marlene has been a real trooper. I have been geting home between 7-10 most nights and going straight to bed. My day normally starts with me waking up between 4-5am. Funny, a few years ago I used to always sleep until noon. I have become a morning person over the last few years.
Easter weekend has been the first weekend I have had ANY time to do anything but work. I feel like I should be doing something more constructive this weekend, but I really needed the break.
Tomorrow I am giving a presentation to the local camera club on how to set up a website. They don't have internet access where I am giving the speech so I ended up installing webserer software on my laptop along with a working version of Movable Type. I used the directions Jennifer had put up at www.fortysoemthing.ca. Thank you to Jennifer for such a good article. It doesn't work exactly like the MT on my webserver. I didn't have the patience to get ImageMagick installed, so I don't get the thumbnailing feature, but it should work ok for this meeting.
